Biography

 

Tom has practiced in the area of workers' compensation law since 1978, and is a certified specialist by the State Bar of Arizona. He is a native Arizonan and has close ties to Flagstaff and communities in Northern Arizona. Tom received his Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska, in 1971, and pursued his Juris Doctorate at Creighton University's School of Law, graduating in 1978.

 

He is a former Administrative Law Judge with the Industrial Commission of Arizona. Tom has served on the State Bar of Arizona's Workers' Compensation Advisory Commission for the Board of Legal Specialization, and has Co-Chaired the Workers' Compensation Section and the Workers' Compensation Education Committee of the State Bar of Arizona, and is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, American Bar Association, and The National Trial Lawyers. While Tom's license is currently in inactive status, he remains a member of the Navajo Nation Bar Association and has previously served as Pro bono Counsel to Dine' Clients. Tom has been a lecturer for workers' compensation seminars sponsored by the State Bar of Arizona, Arizona Trial Lawyers Association, Arizona Workers' Compensation Claims Association, American Bar Association Workers' Compensation and Employers' Liability Committee, as well as the Industrial Commission of Arizona.

 

He has been published in The Arizona Attorney and other State Bar of Arizona publications; and has been recognized in the Arizona Business Magazine as one of the Top Attorneys of Arizona, Arizona's Finest Lawyers, Southwest Super Lawyers, Top 100 Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, and Fellow, Litigation Counsel of America-Trial Lawyer Honorary Society.

 

Tom pursued post-graduate studies in business administration at both Creighton University and Arizona State University, received his Special Teaching Certificate from the State Board of Directors Community Colleges of Arizona in 1982, and is a past faculty member of the American Institute of Paralegal Studies.

 

Tom has been involved in youth athletics as a coach, referee, umpire, and as the District VII Commissioner to the Arizona Youth Soccer Association (4 years), President of the Flagstaff Soccer Club (3 years), Player Agent for Continental Little League (2 years), Executive Board Member Continental Little League (3 years), City of Flagstaff Parks and Recreation Advisory Panel (2 years), and has also been a patron of youth organizations, club and high school academic and athletic programs, and collegiate academic and athletic programs. Tom enjoys spending time with his family, athletics, reading, and travel.
